× About this directory This Registry Beta is built from the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File for Washington, posting date September 8, 2026. The IRS says state files are based on filing addresses and generally represent organization headquarters.
County boundary work is still in progress. This release includes IRS records using the Thurston-associated mailing cities Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, Tenino, Rainier, Bucoda and Rochester. Mailing geography is not identical to county geography. Rochester records in particular require boundary reconciliation. Do not yet interpret the displayed total as BachBok's final certified count of all Thurston County nonprofits.
What the map pins mean Registry records do not contain latitude/longitude. Pins in this beta are deliberately approximate placements around the IRS mailing city, not street-level geocoding. Exact public operating locations will replace them during enrichment. Organizations without public locations will remain searchable rather than being dropped.
Focus and population methodology Initial focus is derived only from the broad first letter of the IRS NTEE code. It is a starting classification, not a BachBok verification. Population tags remain empty until an organization's own mission/program information or another authoritative source supports them.
Coverage limitation The IRS notes that its EO BMF does not include every possible nonprofit entity, including some self-declared organizations and churches that are not required to apply for recognition and have not done so. The final BachBok product will reconcile additional authoritative sources rather than mislabel the IRS file as literally exhaustive.
